A Federal Giltwood Bull's Eye Six-Light Girandole Looking Glass

19th Century

Height 47 x width 43 x depth 11 inches.

Condition
With two wood crates, one for the circular mirror and its crest, and one for the branches and bottom decoration when detached. Professionally treated in 2021 by Maria Paras, Chicago, Illinois to address various condition issues. Loose areas and cracks to the mirror frame were consolidated and stabilized, and the entirety of the frame was cleaned to remove areas of bronze overpaints. Glue from previous repair of laurel leaf ornament to upper proper left was removed. Four quarters of inner frame were clamped and glued, with areas of gesso fills and regilding throughout, including to ball ornaments and eagle.
